THE GARAGE DOOR GLOSSARY / Safety

Anti-lift device

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

An anti-lift device is a component intended to resist the curtain being pushed upwards when a compatible roller garage door is closed.

In practice

Its operation depends on the design of the curtain, barrel and connecting components. It should be considered as part of the complete door specification, rather than as a stand-alone measure that can be added to any system.

The presence of an anti-lift feature does not tell you how an entire door has been tested or rated. When comparing security claims, ask which product and configuration the claim covers and what evidence is available. Faults or damaged components should be assessed by a competent specialist.
