WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
A fascia is a finishing panel used to cover or finish an area around the head of an installation, depending on the door and building arrangement.
In practice
It can help create a tidy transition between the door equipment and the surrounding opening. The specification should distinguish any fascia from the casing that encloses the curtain roll.
Its colour, texture and position can affect the appearance of the finished entrance. A fascia is not automatically a structural repair or a replacement for a suitable supporting surface. If the existing opening needs preparation, the scope of that work should be agreed separately and clearly.
