THE GARAGE DOOR GLOSSARY / Fitting

In-reveal fitting

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

In-reveal fitting positions the door system or its frame within the depth of the building opening, rather than entirely behind it on the internal wall face.

In practice

This arrangement can be useful in some buildings, but components placed within the opening can affect the usable width and height. The suitable fixing position depends on the structure, clearances and selected product.

Compare the final appearance and clear access dimensions with those of other suitable mounting arrangements. The choice also needs to account for the box cover, fascia, floor and any obstructions. It should be confirmed through the fitting assessment rather than selected only from a photograph.
