A light curtain is a protective sensing arrangement that uses multiple beams to monitor an area near a powered door.
In practice
Interrupting a beam sends a signal to the compatible control system. The coverage, position and response depend on the particular equipment and installation. It is different from a single photocell beam and should not be assumed to detect every possible hazard.
Sensors form part of the complete safety arrangement. Keep them clean and unobstructed as directed by the manufacturer, and have persistent faults assessed. Do not bypass the device, change its wiring or rely on it as a reason to walk through a moving door.
