A battery backup supplies stored electrical energy to a compatible garage door system when its normal power supply is unavailable.
In practice
It is an option with its own capacity, charging requirements and maintenance needs. The number of operations available depends on the system and conditions; it should not be assumed to provide unlimited use.
A backup battery is different from the small battery in a remote handset, and may also be different from the main energy store in a solar arrangement. It does not remove the need to discuss safe emergency access, particularly where the garage has no other entrance. Confirm compatibility and the replacement arrangements before ordering.
