THE GARAGE DOOR GLOSSARY / Fitting

Internal face fixing

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Internal face fixing describes mounting the garage door assembly against the inside face of the wall around the opening.

In practice

The guides and roll are positioned behind the entrance rather than entirely between its sides. Depending on the building and door design, this can help preserve the clear opening, but it needs suitable wall space and a sound fixing surface.

Be mindful of projections beside or above the entrance, including pipes, sockets and shelving. The installer must confirm the support, fixing method and space needed for the particular system; a photograph or approximate opening measurement alone cannot establish suitability.
