WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
The bottom seal is the flexible material along the lower edge of a garage door that meets the floor or threshold when the door is closed.
In practice
It helps manage the gap at the base of the door, but its effectiveness depends on the design, condition and shape of the floor. It should not be treated as a guarantee against every form of water or draught ingress.
A safety edge may also be associated with the bottom of a powered door, but sealing and obstruction detection are different functions. If the lower edge is damaged or no longer meets the floor correctly, record the change and ask for assessment rather than adjusting the closing position yourself.
