WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Finished floor level is the height of the floor surface that will remain when planned flooring, screeding, tiling or threshold work is complete.
In practice
It is the relevant reference for considering the door’s opening height and its contact with the floor. Measuring from a temporary or unfinished surface can give a misleading picture of the final entrance.
Tell the installer about any planned change before the door specification is confirmed. The floor’s slope and local irregularities also matter; two points at the base of the same opening may not be at the same height. The final fitting and sealing arrangement needs to reflect the actual conditions.
